Valorization of the territory
Permanent exhibition
The exhibition provides visitors with the patrimony of experience and data gathered with the activities of the Kalat project through an interactive visit, and offers the possibility to practice ludico-didactic activities about archaeology in the laboratory prepared on purpose.
The guided visits to the exhibition and to the «Parco antico Iachinu Filì» (Antic Park of Iachinu Filì) as well as the laboratory activities can be booked by contacting us.
Exhibition path:
1 - The introductory section
The introductory section contains information about the ten years of life of the Kalat project and presents the main activities set up by the Archeoclub. Those are international archaeological camps and theorical-practical apprenticeship, with which 75% of the territory have been recognized, and other 149 areas of archaeological interest have been identified, includig necropolis and settlements from the prehistorical, greek, roman, byzantin and medieval periods. The researh activity, aimed to the realization of the archaeological map of the territory, has been carried out with the scientifical consultancy of Palermo's University Cultural Heritage department and of the Superintendence of Agrigento, in agreement with the Municipality of Campobello di Licata.
The archeoclub also realized some projects reguarding to the European Voluntary Service, youth exchanges and valorisation of the «Parco antico Iachinu Filì» (Antic Park of Iachinu Filì),through the extensive use of local and international voluntary; it ran the local relay of the european Eurodesk network for the municipality of Campobello di Licata; it developped didactic activities for local schools.

Reconnaissance activity of Campobello di Licata's territory which allowed to map a large part of the territory and to individualize new archaeological sites.

Iachinu Filì ancient park
A peculiar attention has been paid to the realization of the «Parco antico Iachinu Filì» (Antic Park of Iachinu Filì), recovering, with the help of hundreds of volunteers, an evocative Bronze Age necropoli. The area has been identified by evaluating and comparing the archaeological sites found, trough the criteria of immediate accessibility, presence of archaeological structures and evocative landscape.
2 - Storia e geologia del territorio
The section contains information about the story and environment of the city of Campobello di Licata, together with a chronological framework, from the paleolithic to medieval times, reguarding to the cultures that have affected Mid-south Sicily.

It's a hilly area with a serie of ridges, mainly formed by messinian evaporites series, interposed by wide valleys, where Tortonian clay deposits and Quaternary soils are visible.

3 e 4) Metodologia archeologica/Plastici tridimensionali
We move to the sections 3 and 4 about archaeological research methodology, where are illustrated the different stages of research through the exposition of pannels and three-dimensional models reproducing: stratigraphy, archaeological excavation, visibility and landscape changes.

Three-dimentionnal model showing in various levels the different archaeological stratifications of the related historical and archaeological periods, based on the assumption that archaeological stratigraphy is a gathering, or even better an anthology of past landscapes.

5 e 6) Valenze culturali del territorio/Parco antico di "Iachinu Filì"
The sections 5 and 6 about the cultural worth of the territory illustrate the lithic, ceramic and sepulchral typologies found during the reconnaissances accomplished in Campobello di Licata's territory, together with a three-dimentionnal model of prehistoric castellucian tomb with dromos and a serie of pannels about prehistorical tombs and tipical plants of the «Parco antico Iachinu Filì» (Antic Park of Iachinu Filì)
Afterwards, there are a few examples of the antic ceramics gathered in the territory i-of Campobello di Licata.
Castellucian ceramic
Ceramic of prehistorical paste. The castellucian phase is characterized by pottery painted with brown or blackish lines on a yellowish or reddish background, which shapes and motifs prensent little variety and are repeated with high frequency.

Ceramica Attica
Greek pottery. Imported in Sicily from Athenes it's characterized by a valuable workmanship, either reguarding to the elegance of the vases shapes that to the gloss of the varnish coating. Three different types of production can be singled out: the black-figured and red background pottery (see the picture), the red-figured and black background pottery and the black-varnished one, without any figurative decoration.

Ceramica Invetriata
Medieval ceramic including vases intended to table use and consumption of foods or food storage, covered with a varnish made of lead or tin. Through the vitrified lead-rich ceramics can be distinguished the green monochrome ones, the green with furrowed decoration, those with geometric decorative patterns, vegetal or zoomorphic, brown, green or yellow.

7) Laboratorio per attività ludiche e didattiche
Lastly, the laboratory is the site of the ludico-didactic activities about archaeology where it will be possible, by playing, to learn to know art in prehistoric times, how to carry out an achaeological research and also the immense historical, artistical, archaeological and naturalistic value of the smaller sites in the province of Agrigento.
