I was doing my volunteer work in Campobello di Licata for 9 months and I can say, that it was one of the most instructive experience of my life. I had opportunity to learn how to work and live in an international environment. I was living together with young people from all Europe, such as Belgium, Latvia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Poland, France, Greece, the Netherlands and Spain. Living together is a great possibility to learn more about the different cultures and habits. And what is more it makes you really tolerant. I think every young person should have an experience like this!

Since I had finished marketing, my main task at the beginning of my EVS was to promote the International Summer Camps that we are organising for the young people from all over the world. The Summer Camps were the most active part of my voluntary work, full of tasks, responsibility but also games and fun on the other side. And here we had further opportunity to meet more foreigners. It was really a great and useful experience. I was also happy for the opportunity to write about these experiences in the local and national newspapers.

I could also try another activity, that I really enjoyed: the promotion of Youth Program, the different European opportunities for the youth to work and study abroad. I felt it very useful and their interest made me really satisfied about my work.

We also made activities with elementary school students to teach them about the archaeology with imitation of the most important archaeological activities, such as the survey, the excavation, the washing and the analysing of the artifacts.

Besides the Summer Camps one of the most interesting period of my EVS was the project we made in Trapani. During 3 weeks we were working on a medieval church, which is called Chiesa Sant' Ippolito. Thanks to the hot in Sicily, we were working only in the evening hours, so we had opportunity to travel around this part of the island as well!

You can check in photos, how nice can be an EVS experience!
