The camp activities consist of:
- Survey, archaeological research of the surface.
- Recovery of the Bronze age necropolis in the "Ancient Park of Iachinu Filì"
Survey
The activity of Survey is an archaeological research in the field.
Archaeological sites will be located and mapped in the interior territory of Campobello di Licata.
It also foresees the map of historical pathways for the creation of tourist routes.
The activities from previous years have already consent the individualization of other 90 archaeological sites
dated from the Neolithic age till the Byzantine and Arab age.
The most important discoveries:
Three Fountains, a rare site fortificated in the Byzantine age with high walls and communication trenches,
the presence of prehistoric finds and tombs from the Late Roman age.
Milici, an area full of ceramic fragments dated from the Hellenistic age till the Medieval age with evident building
structures, still in situ, with fragments of plaster.
Ciccobriglio, a large Bronze age necropolis.
Recovery of the Bronze age necropolis in the "Ancient Park of Iachinu Filì"
"Iachinu Filì", is one of the most characteristic rural areas of the territory of Campobello di Licata;
The recent archaeological research had individualized numerous sites dated back to the Bronze age (XXII - XVI centuries B.C).
One of them is a representative necropolis with numerous 'cave tombs', some re-used in the Byzantine age.
This Necropolis is situated in a rural context with small buildings and traditional cultivations. The recovery of the area
has already been initiated in the previous editions of the Kalat Camps with the cooperation of Italian and foreign
volunteers and using the local, natural and reversible materials. In the area has been realized the " Parco Antico di Iachinu Filì"
This year we'll proceed with the cleaning of the area for the localization and recuperation of eventual tombs.
